Title

The Evolution of Tooling in the Modern Web

Presenter

Abstract

The modern web has seen massive advances and drastic methodology shifts in the past decade. Interestingly enough, the driving force behind some of these evolutions frequently comes from seemingly tangential technologies. With Ruby, the growth of a language was fueled by an innovative framework (Rails), while Javascript has seen increased usage with new frameworks on the server side as well as the client side. Developers appreciate tools for their obvious productivity boost and time savings, but can these smaller and theoretically extraneous pieces of software effectuate fundamental shifts in the modern web? Join us as we take a look at the history of development tools, and look to how these trends will effect the future of programming languages and the web itself.
